The essence of Canadian cuisine is how we, as immigrants to this incredible land, have used both the indigenous foodstuffs and the ones we brought with us that reflected our own particular menu of stories. For generations, we’ve been creating one of the most dynamic food cultures at our kitchen and restaurant tables.
Chef Robin Pradhan’s take on Canada’s food is simple and delicious. With his wife/partner, Shelley Bentz (she’s the reason he’s here in the first place) his menu is inspired by the producers of the Grey/Bruce region of Ontario and infused with the flavours of his homeland, Nepal.
Chef Robin Pradhan’s story is like that of many other first generation Canadians. He arrived in Canada in 1996 and began working in a restaurant on Ontario’s beautiful Bruce Peninsula. Robin’s roots are in Nepal and his cooking reflects the culinary traditions with which he grew up. He make beef vindaloo with the organic beef from Annan; he’ll whip up a good root vegetable curry with produce from near Chatsworth or he’ll do Thai style venison strip loin.
His attitude towards food is also very Nepalese. He believes that in addition to feeding the bodies of his lucky diners, he’s feeding their souls.
