Lot 30, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

Chef Gordon Bailey, Lot 30, Canadian cuisine

Gordon Bailey and I first met in 2001.  Even then the muscular, well-tattooed chef was on the road to being a culinary rock star.  He and his partner, Traci, opened Lot 30 in 2008 and have never looked back. He harvests the Island with passion and determination.

On his website Chef Gordon Bailey refuses to label his cooking or his personal style. I couldn’t agree more. Pinning down this free spirit is absolutely impossible.  And who would want to…his talent should be let loose to experiment and challenge the island’s diners.

He designed his own restaurant, rides a hefty motorcycle, shops from the island and cooks beautiful food whether it’s a Lot 30 Cioppino with halibut and salmon or a platter of freshly shucked oysters for which Prince Edward Island is famous across the continent or local bay scallops, pan-fried till golden and served with line-cultured mussels on a sweet potato-roasted garlic puree. He’ll grill a 12 oz Atlantic Beef rib-eye ( a brand pioneered as a collaboration among the Maritime Provinces) or serve you his own special take on great PEI lobster.

On Food Day Canada there is one guarantee…Gordon Bailey will be having fun in the kitchen!
